Well it is that time of year again and the 2008 33rd PNGGFA National Fishing Titles will run from Saturday 15th March 2008 through to Monday 24th March 2008.
Firstly, we would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to come to Rabaul and experience our great fishing grounds over the Easter week. All indications are that this is going to be a very big event. We have in excess of 20 international anglers already, coming from places such as Weipa, Mackay, Brisbane, New Zealand and Singapore. Organization is well under way and that we will offer whatever assistance needed to make sure you are looked after.

Welcome all to the 33rd Game Fishing Association of Papua New Guinea’s National Game Fishing Titles, and many thanks to New Britain Game Fishing Club for hosting the Titles once again.
A special welcome to all visiting overseas anglers and a big thank you to all of the sponsors who generously support this great event year after year.
The Club have been planning this for more than two years, in particular the financing and development of a new tee finger wharf in Rabaul. The Rabaul Yacht Club are also to be congratulated for their part in this plan as well as the ongoing work needed around the clubhouse to control damage caused by continuing volcanic activity.
The Titles in Port Moresby last year were again well supported by both anglers and sponsors alike. We even had more good weather than bad and a number of new National Records were set.
The GFA had a busy year in 2007 with one of the new items being a special marlin pin which will be awarded by the GFA to the angler tagging the most marlin in each Club’s premier marlin tournament. The Titles are included and I look forward to presenting the pin to the winner.
The waters around New Britain offer great angling for all species and line classes – tight lines and good luck to all.
